What is the Restricted Substances Compliance Programme?
RoHS, WEEE, ELV, California Proposition 65: In markets around
the globe, manufacturers must adapt their supply chains to meet
these emerging environmental regulations. By
July 2006, all manufacturers of electronic and electrical equipment
sold in Europe must comply with the EU's Reduction of Hazardous
Substances (RoHS) Directive 2002/95/ EC mandating the reduction
of six hazardous substances. The immediate repercussions of
non-compliance include serious fines, damaged brand reputations
and even potential jail time.
The RoHS Directive requires that manufacturers
be able to demonstrate minimal levels of the following identified
substances:
 |
Lead (Pb) |
 |
Hexavalent chromium (Cr +6) |
 |
Mercury (Hg) |
 |
Polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) |
 |
Cadmium (Cd) |
 |
Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) |
