Preliminary Compliance
What is the Preliminary Compliance Review?
The Preliminary Compliance Review is a programme that consists of a technical
review of your device against any standard: UL, CSA, IEC, EN or
ISO. The review can take place at an office of UL in Europe or
at your company facilities.
The Preliminary Compliance Review is useful for new and existing
clients working with us. It can be extremely practical to you
if:
 |
You are not familiar with the different safety certification
schemes and our component requirements. |
 |
You need the application of a device directive for your
Declaration of Conformity for CE marking. |
 |
Your technical development staff needs further understanding
of a standard they are required to design a product against.
|
Your benefits
 |
You get to know where you stand before you formally submit
for certification. |
 |
You will be able to determine what essential requirements
and annexes of the directive need to be addressed. |
How to start?
Shortly after the meeting, a technical report in the form of a letter report will be provided to you. Yourself and UL will then use this report as a "guide" for the formal evaluation. No unexpected issues will be found after the mould has been set or the components selected.
Typically, our engineering staff will discuss any of these requirements with your product development team or quality manager. The costs associated are dependent on the scope of the review and the time (in days) needed to address your requirements. Generally, it will take a day with you and a day back at UL for the report creation.
