The UL GS Mark is a voluntary mark. It can be used on products such as household appliances, laboratory equipment, luminaries and IT/AV equipment. Products are evaluated according to the German Equipment and Product Safety Act (GPSG). The evaluation is based on harmonised European standards for the safety testing, some product may require additional testing according to other standards e.g ergonomic testing. The validity of the certificate is maximum 5 years. Pre-license inspection is required, followed by a yearly factory inspection. Our inspections comply with the European CENELEC inspections and can be combined with other inspections. The Testing at Manufacturer's Premises (TMP) agreement under the CB scheme can be used as basis for the UL GS mark.
You can also combine testing for the UL GS mark with testing for other European certification marks (e.g. D-Mark, ENEC). Electrical safety testing done by a Certification Body Test Laboratory (CBTL) is accepted for obtaining a UL GS Mark if German national deviations are met. Several European UL laboratories have the CBTL status and thus can offer you these services directly in your region.
