What is the ENEC mark?

ENEC (European Norms Electrical Certification) is a voluntary mark for luminaries, luminary components, electrical and electronic office and IT equipment, safety isolating and separating transformers, power supply units and switches for household appliances. It certifies the compliance of a product with the EN standards. ENEC is considered by the countries that signed the agreement as valid as their own national mark. ENEC accepts manufacturers worldwide, except for luminaries, for which ENEC may be gained by manufacturers in Europe only. Requirements for manufacturing location will be stated specifically for each standard included in the ENEC Agreement (ENEC 301, Annex B). The agreement is special as it is based on a joint European certification mark to which an identification number has been added for each issuing body of the mark. UL International Demko A/S is a leading signatory to the ENEC agreement. Testing for the ENEC Mark can be done locally, on the manufacturers' premises. Our local UL offices will make factory visits to help you ease the procedure.

Your benefits

Twenty different markets can be reached by only one mark.
One mark instead of many: money and time saving.
Reliable basis for CE marking (Low-Voltage Directive) within the European Union.
Products affixed with the ENEC Mark can also be affixed with the D-Mark if the manufacturer so wishes.
Serves as a powerful marketing tool.
Recognition and acceptance by both consumers and buyers worldwide.

How to start?

Manufacturers applying for a certificate under this agreement must introduce a quality control system that is at least equivalent to EN ISO 9002. This requirement includes the demand that routine tests be performed as well as periodic testing of the product. UL verifies compliance. The quality system for manufacturers of luminaries must be certified. Furthermore there is a requirement of factory inspections for the mark.
