What is the D-Mark?
The D-Mark is a voluntary safety mark registered and provided by UL-Demko.
It has been in use for more than 70 years and is a familiar symbol to consumers
as well as retailers and manufacturers in Europe.
The D-Mark demonstrates that the tested product complies with the requirements in:
 | Harmonised standards (for example, EN/HD), or
|
 | International standards (for example, IEC), or
|
 | National standards (for example DS), or
|
 | Other standards (for example, UL or VDE), or
|
 |
Other relevant parts of the above-mentioned standards
that form the basis of the certification. |
Certification of a product is based on the testing of one or
a few specimens, in other words, type testing. The manufacturer
has the obligation to ensure that his production complies precisely
with the tested product. By affixing the D-Mark to the product,
the manufacturers or importers are providing their applicants
with the opportunity to be sure that electrical safety has not
been compromised.
