Underwriters Laboratories will announce a new international certification process at CeBIT
Hannover, Germany, 22. Jan 07
Underwriters Laboratories will be present for the first time at CeBIT Hannover from 15th to 21st March 2007 (Hall 1, Stand F70/1). The highlight at the CeBIT Exhibition will be the UL CB-Scheme Campaign, which runs until the end of 2007.
UL’s CB Scheme Campaign is a unique certification bundle for manufacturers of IT equipment: When a manufacturer requests the UL mark for a product therefore facilitating access to the US, UL will issue the CB Certificate, the UL GS mark and the D mark free of charge. The advantage: with this exclusive service offer, IT manufacturers optimise market access opportunities to be gained through one certification process – the CB Certificate enables international market access to 47 countries, the UL GS Mark facilitates market entry to Germany and the D Mark allows access to the Scandinavian countries Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway. Therefore, IT manufacturers can ensure the market acceptance of its UL certified products to North America while accessing the European market for free by working with UL as one global certification body. The CB Scheme provides manufacturers with the chance to obtain considerable savings in terms of time, whilst making access to global markets remarkably easier, and giving products a guarantee of greater safety.
UL’s commitment to actively support manufacturers operating in the ITE industry is the reason why UL decided to exhibit at CeBIT for first time. “In today’s aggressive export environment the IT industry faces, UL cannot ignore how important it is for European products to gain competitive advantage by getting additional prestigious, voluntary safety marks like UL GS and D on top of CE marking. CeBIT is the perfect platform for us to get this message across to the industry players at the Hannover show”- states Alberto Uggetti, European Consumer Products Sector Manager.
In addition the internationally accepted EMC Certificate, which attests the Electromagnetic Compatibility of electrical products, will be another of the services UL will present at CeBIT. Companies can also obtain information regarding UL RoHS-Services, which support manufacturers and distributors in compliance with EU Directive 2002/95/EC on the restriction of hazardous substances, at UL’s stand.
Representatives from UL affiliates throughout Europe, including certification engineers, will be available during the show to provide consultancy and answer technical questions concerning the certification world.
